NSBA Club Connect - "Accessibility: Creating Barrier-Free Environments" (Apr26/19)
NSBA Club Connect Breakfast Series Featuring:
"Accessibility: Creating Barrier-Free Environments"
A Presentation by Michael Donauer - Paceline Advisors Ltd
Accessibility in the built environment is a very prominent issue in our society. Saskatoon needs to be prepared for the changing demographic of a drastically increasing seniors population - the "Silver Glacier". By 2030, 21% of Canadians will have a disability and make up $316 billion of consumer spending. There is also forthcoming federal accessibility legislation that will demand compliance to new regulations and require entities to identify and remove barriers. The Rick Hansen Foundation (RHF) created an Accessibility Certification that measures a facility's level of meaningful access that takes into account the experience of all users when using a facility and its amenities. Paceline is the first organization to offer RHF Assessment Certifications in Saskatchewan, and we are committed to helping forward-thinking stakeholders build and maintain inclusive and inviting building environments.
Michael Donauer graduated from the Edwards School of Business in the spring of 2018. He is in charge of Customer Experience at Paceline Advisors Limited here in Saskatoon. Michael is currently developing & growing the "Accessibility"spoke at Paceline which involves bringing in new clients and spreading the word on the accessibility issues present in the built environment. Michael's "WHY" is to seize great opportunities and to solve meaningful problems alongside great people.
