NSBA Club Connect Breakfast Series Featuring:

"In Today's World, If Your Business Plan Doesn't Include a Security Plan, Then It's Not a Business Plan"
Presentation by Detective Sgt Mike Horvath - Saskatoon Police Services

If you don’t lock your compounds, or take steps to secure it, your business is more likely to experience a break-in. The result is financial loss, increased insurance premiums and inconvenience. As Detective Sgt. Mike Horvath has taken to saying, “In today’s world, if your business plan doesn’t include a security plan, then it’s not a business plan.”

For the last number of years, the north-end industrial area has been a consistent ‘hot spot’ for the Police Service. This means that it is among the areas that sees a high number of crimes, typically break-ins. When compounds are targeted, suspects often take valuable metals (copper, brass, aluminum), tools, gas, construction supplies and vehicles.

Through follow-up, we are seeing that businesses are not taking the proper precautions that in today’s world are necessary to protect their property. Detective Sgt. Mike Horvath with the SPS Break and Enter Unit is looking forward to speaking at the July 26th Club Connect breakfast in order to educate businesses on steps they can take to prevent thefts and break-ins, and the realities of the Police investigation.

Detective Sgt.Horvath is in his 22nd year of policing. Born and raised in Saskatoon, after graduating from E.D Feehan high school he entered the U of S completing a bachelor’s degree in ’94. He began his career in policing with the Regina Police Service prior to joining Saskatoon Police Service in 2001. He is married to Crystal and they have a son (17) & daughter (20).
