NSBA Network Series Luncheon:
Cameron McBride is a 27-year member of the Saskatoon Police Service who was appointed Chief of Police on May 16, 2024. Cameron holds an Advanced Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Major in Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan, has taken the Critical Incident Command Course at the Canadian Police College, and holds memberships on both the Saskatchewan and Canadian Associations of Chiefs of Police. In 2021 he was accepted into the Order of Merit of the Police Forces.
During his career, Chief McBride has worked diligently to build and strengthen the community through both his career and personal endeavors. He has experience in many areas of policing including; in Patrol, Traffic, Forensic Identification and Human Resources and Senior Administration. He also spent 16 years in the Explosive Disposal Unit.
Professionally, Cameron has built strong working relationships with community-based organizations. He has sat on numerous boards and committees including the Safe Community Action Alliance Operations and Administrative Committees, the Safe Consumption Site Community Safety Advisory Board, EGADZ Youth Centre, the Street Activity Sub Committee and the Downtown Safety Committee.
Cameron was a critical component in researching, planning, and executing the creation of the Community Mobilization Unit. This Unit was established to address community issues that the police service anticipated would come from the opening of Saskatoon’s first supervised consumption site.
Personally, Cameron and his wife dedicate their time to d3h Foundation, a non-profit organization that they created and operate to fundraise to assist families, and specifically children in need. One example of these efforts is the establishment of a small orphanage in the Philippines that ensures children are cared for and have access to education. The couple has also worked with police members on marriage enrichment and the challenges the career presents for members’ families.
In his role as Chief of Police, Cameron continues to be involved in all aspects of contributing to a safe, healthy, and vibrant Saskatoon.
